Water is the biggest enemy to wood…

1) Biological damages : rotting, fungi growth

2) Physical damages : shrinking and swelling lead to cracks

It’s a fairy tale that wood needs no protection.

Silicone Chemistry

Silicone resins are hydrophobic by nature and mix easily with water already present in the wood too. The silicone resin contains T-units to achieve a certain hardness but also D-units to maintain flexibility. Indeed, a 3D structure maintaining water vapor permeability, anti cracking resistance and water repellency. The alkoxygroups in the formula guarantee high reactivity, crosslinking en substrate adhesion.
